Who Did You Come Out to First?
Jeez, who DID I come out to first? Probably my friend Amanda in 7th grade, though I knew I was gay since... well, since my first crush :D
But I don't think I've ever actually come out to two people the same way (besides at this one party...)
Were There Any Challenges?
With my family, there really wasn't, the hard part is picking your battles and how to attack them
Coming out is like WAR >:D
That's kinda how I saw it, I had to win certain battles in order to win the war
I had come out to my friends, who were really accepting people, and what I learned from their reactions, I took into account when I went to tell others, and those experiences made me know how things should pan out depending on how I went about it
Advice
- OH GOD, NUMBER ONE THING, NEVER EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, TAKE YOUR PARTNER WITH YOU. The reason I say that, is that the one your telling, if they might not accept you, will target your partner, and from then on, make their life hell, some even harass over the phone and through facebook and other social networking devices
- Stand your ground, if you let them beat you down, you might as well have never told them
- Bring it up, make jokes to your family, talk about it. They will be horribly uncomfortable with it at all times, but it reminds them what you are and it helps you keep your ground.
