Question: If it Felt Weird to Make Out With My Friend Does That Mean I'm Not Gay?
Answer:

A teen writes,

I am positive that I'm a lesbian. I have had sex with a girl before, that girl was my first and I was so in love with her but its been over for a while. Anyway. My best friend, we'll call her A and I were talking and we've been friends for a very long time and I, of course, love her but we were talking and it seems that she was in love with me and had feelings for me. A is not a lesbian she is straight as a board, so I really found this weird but we ended up kissing and it was just weird and it felt wrong. I started questioning if I am actually gay or not when I felt the weirdness or wrongness of the making out. Could this just be because she is my best friend and I crossed a line, or should I examine my sexuality more to see if I uncovered something???

Ultimately, the only person who can really know if you are a lesbian is you. But in this situation what sounds confusing is kissing this particular person, not your entire sexual orientation. I can't say for sure, but I bet that if you kissed someone you had romantic feelings for, it would probably be different.

Just because you are lesbian or gay doesn't mean you are going to be attracted to every person of the same sex. Just like all straight people aren't attracted to every person of the opposite sex!
