Have you ever sat around wishing you had something, anything, to do?

If so, you're not alone! Here are 8 tips for gay teens looking to beat boredom. Try some out the next time you find yourself watching one too many sitcom reruns.

  1. Volunteer.

There are plenty of great GLBT organizations out there. Look into connecting with some of them.
  2. Start a Gay / Straight Alliance.

Start by learning about all the steps you need to take to kick off a GSA in your community.
  3. Rent some classic GLBT flicks.

Never seen: But I’m a Cheerleader, Kissing Jessica Stein, Beautiful Thing, Milk or Hedwig and the Angry Inch? Better get cracking, because that is just the beginning of the list.
  4. Check out Internet TV.

Logo's Coming Out Stories or the lesbian teen drama, Anyone But Me are fun ways to get a little peek in GLBT community and culture.
  5. Exercise.

There's no time like the present!
  6. Read.

There are tons of great GLBT authors who are writing for teens. This is a great time to check out some of their books.
  7. Write.

Start a journal. Blog about your life. Connect with other gay teens on the forum.
  8. Talk.

If you’ve been keeping a lot bottled up inside, now might be a good time to let it out. Friends and family can offer support, but so can professionals. Consider contacting the GLBT Youth Talkline for help if you need it.
