Sexual orientation is about a lot more than the physical act of having sex, but sometimes we forget this when the orientation in question isn't heterosexual.
As a result, some people wonder if it is possible to know that they are gay even if they haven't had sex with another guy.
But think about it this way, do we expect people to only know they are interested in the opposite sex after having intercourse? Of course not!
If you are trying to figure out if you are gay there are a few things you can do besides having sex. Asking yourself some questions is one of them. For example:
- Who do you usually have crushes on? Is it mainly another guy?
- Do you imagine relationships with a guy?
- If you dated or had a sexual experience with a girl, how did it make you feel?
- If you dated or had a sexual experience with a guy, how did it make you feel?
It's true that a sexual experince with someone of the same sex can sometimes help clear up some questions. But for a great many people those are questions that can often be answered whether or not a sexual experience occurs.
