A teen writing to the community forum asks for suggestions on coming out to her friends, saying "I wanna just come out cause I'm tired of no one knowing." A lot of teens wrote back sharing their own experiences. Here are a few:
"i was in the exact situation last year my freshman year of high school, i was so confused on what to do. but i trusted my best friend, and she is pretty cool with that kind of stuff, so i just told her. it is such a relief to tell someone instead of keeping all that emotion inside. even this forum helps you know? it may be so scary to tell someone for the first time, but just go for it, you will feel so much better." --jayy17

"my best friend is bi, and it was actually really easy coming out to her. I didnt even really plan it. We were mostly just talking about some girls and I was like "wouldnt being bi be cool, cause you get to date anyone in the world!" and she was like "ummm, dont be mad, but i think i migt be bi..." and so i basically just said "me too!" Its really no big deal with friends, but the hard part is parents. It'll be a long time before i can bring myself to do that..." --Arecelius
"I still have four very very close friends who [I haven't come out to], and even if I know they're really open-minded, I don't know why but I'm afraid to come out to them. Three of them are girls, and maybe it's the problem, I see them wearing only their underwear all the time, they have no problem with it, and I think I'm afraid that if they knew, their behavior toward me would change. So coming out to them is my main problem for the moment, waay before coming out to my parents (which is a problem too), because my friends are to ones who are supposed to know everything about me, I tell them everything, except this very important point and it's a burden..."
