Teen Charged with Gay Journalist’s Murder

A teen, who responded to a Craigslist ad for sex with a gay journalist, has confessed to his murder. The teen says that the journalist was bound during a sexual role play. As the journalist picked up a knife to free himself, the teen who was high on cocaine and had been drinking alcohol, claims he panicked and stabbed the man. Police, however, aren’t buying this version of events and have charged the 16-year-old with second degree murder. Read more…

Oregon Passes a School Bullying Law

The state of Oregon has passed an anti-bullying law that can help protect kids from harassment in schools. Some have argued that the bill goes too far by expanding the definition of harassment to include harming a student’s "psychological well-being.” Still many are pleased that the definition of bullying now includes, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin or disability. Emergency Contraception (the Morning After Pill) Must Be Made Available Prescription-Free to Older Teens

A judge has ruled that the morning-after-pill, a form of contraception that can prevent pregnancy up to five days after unprotected sex, be made available without a prescription across the United States to women and girls seventeen and older. This is an important move for a medication that can prevent countless unplanned pregnancies a year that may arise as a result of failed contraception, unprotected sex or rape. Read more…
