Being a Gay Christian Teen

Tuesday December 2, 2008

According to the website, Religious Tolerance about 70% of Americans and a similar number of Canadians consider themselves Christian.

It would stand to reason then that some of these people would be gay. Though some people argue that being gay is incompatible with being Christian, a lot of GLBT teens disagree. In emails, comments left in the forum and on blog posts, gay Christian teens have shared their views on being young gay and Christian or growing up in Christian families.

As a teen named Hannah says:

i really love Jesus and i love women and i really beleive that Jesus loves me. it can be really hard for a gay Christian teen to accept themselves, or to find where they stand with scripture, especially if your church is anti-gay. but personally i find that the best way of discerning god's plans for you, is to ask him :)

I can out to my religious group that I was trans (ftm) and man did they flip there lid. Every now and then I have someone yell at me for it, but not in the way “they” did. I was told over and over again that trans people didn’t exist (oh I though but I’m right here) and that God had this “plan” for me as a girl (ya a plan for me to try to kill myself no dought). So they set up a trans-reversal thing on me , stupid idiot couldn’t figure out why I was so sad and miserable after that. Its a wonder I still believe in God after all that…
