My university didn't have a Greek system - fraternities and sororities aren't as big a deal in Canada as they are in the States. As a result, I have to admit that my understanding of this aspect of college life was shaped more by bad movies than it was by first hand experience.

So I was a little surprised to discover that gay and lesbian fraternities and sororities even existed! But exist they do.

In fact, the Delta Lambda Phi fraternity has been around for over twenty years offering a safe and supportive environment for men who want to experience Greek life while being in a gay community.

Lesbian sorority, Alpha Chi Upsilon, is newer on the scene having been founded in 2005. To learn more about what they do, you can check out the guide to lesbian life's interview with their president, April Blair.

A lesbian fraternity for dominant lesbian women. If you consider yourself to be butch, stud, aggressive, etc, then you may consider this fraternity. Our sister Sorority is Phi Nu Kappa and they cater to more feminine women. We have this seperation due to the realization that issues that affect dominant women do not neccessarily affect feminine women. The stereotypes that we typically are faced with differ. Gay and Lesbian sororities and fraternities volunteer in the community and try to be a recognizable force, much like “straight” organizations do.

Anyway, check us out!!

Great article for lgbt youth!

Yes, gay and lesbian sororities do exist. We’ve been around for several years now, and many are going strong.

For any young people with questions, don’t hesitate to contact my organization. We have a teen mentorship program.

For feminine lesbians looking for a Sorority to rush, visit us at http://www.KappaThetaEpsilon.com for information about membership.
